Working of a Photoelectric Smoke Alarm

Photoelectric Smoke Alarms work by detecting smoke in a different way than other types of alarms. They do this without using americium, which can be prone to decay over time. Instead, photoelectric smoke alarms use light. These detectors scatters light. so when smoke enters the home,  this light is detected by an electronic circuit.

These devices are hard-wired into the home's electrical system, but some have a secondary battery to be replaced annually. Others use sealed batteries that last for 10 years. If you are planning to replace an old alarm with a new one, be sure to purchase the reliable electrical brand.

A photoelectric smoke alarm works by aiming a light source into a sensing chamber or away from it. If smoke enters the chamber, the light reflects on the sensor and activates the alarm. These smoke alarms also have a long-life battery. Our Photoelectric Smoke Alarm uses an advanced photoelectric sensor to detect carbon monoxide and fast-flaming fires.

Photoelectric Smoke alarms are faster to detect a fire than ionization smoke alarms. They also respond more quickly to heat, carbon monoxide, and steam from a shower. The National Fire Protection Association and the Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends the photoelectric alarm. It is important to note that this type of alarm is not for every home.

The NFPA has conducted extensive research on the safety of photoelectric and ionization smoke alarms. While the photoelectric smoke alarm is more effective in detecting fires in the home than the ionization smoke alarm, the two types of detectors do not have much in common. They do however differ in the amount of smoke they detect.

During a fire, photoelectric smoke alarms detect smoke particles by scattering light in the sensory chamber. Smoke particles that obstruct this beam of light trigger the alarm. While the ionization smoke alarms use ionizing radiation to detect small particles of smoke, photoelectric alarms detect even small amounts.

Smoke Alarms by AGM Electrical Supplies is an excellent choice for a smoke detector. It is easy to install and comes with a battery backup. It also detects multiple types of fire, reducing the likelihood of false alarms. Our models have battery backup and has a dual sensor.

One of the best features of photo-electric alarm is its built-in digital display. The screen shows the current CO levels in your home and shows if the alarm is sounding. The display also changes colors to indicate the battery level. This alarm is also very durable and has a ten-year expected lifespan.
